More issues

Since the first version you get hit in melee by monsters on the other side of doors who you cant see and shouldn't be able to damage you. Perhaps make the door object wider to prevent the mobs from being close enough to melee you through the door. Not sure if its a hitbox thing or because the tips of your triangle can push through the door object a bit, but it can and will lead to unfair deaths with no recourse. Every trait I've seen that that reduces spellcasting speed actually increases it, actually making your character worse. I've had multiple attempts at running through the game and just been obliterated on the first floor by enemies able to cast through walls (despite me being unable to see them... not 100% sure but I remember being able to see enemies in TW1 on the other side of walls/doors unless it was a…

Hi :)

Thanks for reporting! I'll address these issues in the next version :)

Balance

Soo I have beaten the game! It was fun to do that again after such a long time. I have to admit I used some unbalanced features which made it much easier than TW1. So here is my feedback on balance.

Some random quests give ridiculous amounts of exp. I had one quest that made me jump from level 50 to level 96 and another one made me jump from 101 to 144. You might want to rethink the randomness of quest exp.

Euphoria is broken. I really really love the new wish feature but it needs some changes. Right now you get 0.5 wishes per level. Most features other gods give you are worth between 1-5 wishes (for those that you can wish for/ comparable things). So by level 11 you basically already have one or more other gods and you just keep getting more. In the beginning I…

Thanks Wouter! I am always amazed and grateful how quick you fix things! By the way I really think your game deserves a bigger audience. Have you considered putting it on some websites like itch.io?

Bugs

When you have wall walking (by being a shade, wishing, or items) you can't pick up money anymore.

Wishing for immunities doesn't reduce the resistances of the other elements.

Thank you so much for your update!

There is something wrong with the RAM usage. Sometimes the game slows down a lot and when I look at the task manager it takes like 10gb of RAM (all that was free) and becomes extremely slow. This seems to happen more as there is more spell casting going on especially light intensive spells. Also (but much less) more creatures.

I also noticed that poison/holy/death water and lava drain a lot of ressources (maybe because of their animations). Funnily if you use the 10x speed button around poison water the game becomes much slower and laggy than under normal speed. By the way jumping doesn't seem to work under really laggy conditions.

One particular weird behaviour is that pausing and unpausing the game leads to an extreme slowdown of the game. Sometimes my game takes like 30 sec until the screen moves again after unpausing. Even though the game was completely fluent before pausing and unpausing.

Some things I don't know whether they are bugs:

"* The Strengthen Familiar spell will now also buff a summoned familiar; no more need to resummon it to apply buffs."

I tried this with health regeneration and didn't apply. I Could do more testing for other power ups.

Also in my game there was something wrong with casting the familiar spell again. I would be able to get several familiars. I never tested the limits of that but in between I had like 4. At first I thought it is because they have different names (weak Navar, Navar, exceptional navar) as my spell level increased, but it also worked for the same name.

Summoning familiars and recalling within walls doesn't work (it used to just place them next to the wall in TW1) - but maybe that is intended behaviour.

I was able to completely remove the nameless one from the battlefield. I have no idea how - it was just gone after several high level shockwaves (in TW1 you could blast them outside the walls and then you still see them but here it was just gone). Weirdly That didn't work on Maevelin though.

* Can now specify spells allies are not allowed to cast in the Grimoire. Can also be set on an individual basis in a creature's Grimoire.

I found the button for that in my own grimoire. The problem was if I am not in a shop I am not able to see the whole grimoire - only spells I know. (I could work around that by doing all the settings in a shop but maybe make it possible or normal to see the full grimoire anyway). I also couldn't find the option in my allies so the individual basis didn't work.

Suggestions

Thank you so much Wouter. I am incredible excited to play Triangle Wizard again. It is so good to see this beautiful game in a new engine. I am also really looking forward to the new wish mechanic it sounds really fun. I just started a game and I have a few suggestions:

1. Let us change the control keys. Maybe I missed it but I want to put the keys back how they were. Some things just don't line up well for one hand (e.g. wasd and enter as interaction)

2. I am really missing some options that used to be in TW1. Right now I have a paladin from a crusade spell. But for some reason he never casts his remedy spell. There used to be an option to turn spell casting on and off in allies. And also change behaviours like stay back or engage in melee.

This was my initial idea was well, but it is very hard to define "safe" as many aspects may make a level hostile even without any enemy creatures nearby. And they may depend sharply on the individual player character. For instance, certain deities may attack you randomly, meaning nowhere is really safe indefinately. It would be hard to keep track of all such effects (and keeping that register up-to-date going forward) in order to determine if a player character is currently safe or not.

Therefore, the speed-up functionality added in v1.6 is good middle ground I think ;)
